Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for protection increases at the BOTTOM of this section. If you cannot find your request, check the archive of requests or, failing that, the page history. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary extended confirmed protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Autoconfirmed editors are persistently adding uncited BO figures even after various notes placed throughout the article and multiple talk page warnings. Please check history for the similar disruptions this week. — Benison (Beni · talk) 06:16, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: Has been attracting a high level of IP comments, some of which violate BLP. As these are apparently inspired by the recent release of the Netflix series, several weeks of semi-protection may be a good idea. Nickm57 (talk) 06:55, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

You said: Wikipedia page lock kaise kare ChatGPT said: Wikipedia par kisi page ko aap personally "lock" nahi kar sakte, lekin Wikipedia ke administrators (admins) kisi page ko protect kar sakte hain agar:

Us page par vandalisme (galat ya badle jaise edits) ho raha ho

Bahut zyada edit wars chal rahe ho

Page high-profile ya controversial ho (jaise Narendra Modi, Kashmir, etc.)

Lock hone ke types: Semi-protection – Sirf registered users edit kar sakte hain.

Extended-confirmed protection – Sirf purane aur trusted accounts hi edit kar sakte hain.

Full protection – Sirf admins edit kar sakte hain.

Agar aap chahte ho ki koi page lock ho: Page ke "Talk" section me jaake apni request likho.

Ya phir Wikipedia:Requests for page protection pe jaake request karo.

Reason achha aur valid hona chahiye (jaise vandalisme ka proof, recent edit history, etc.).

Agar tum chaho, to mujhe page ka naam aur reason bata do, main ek draft likh dunga jo tum wahan post kar sako.

Request for Semi-Protection: Samastipur

Hello,

I would like to request semi-protection for the Wikipedia page Samastipur. The page has recently seen frequent vandalism and non-constructive edits, which is affecting the quality and reliability of the content.

Examples of issues:

Repeated addition of incorrect or unsourced information

Unnecessary blanking of sections

Promotional or irrelevant content being added

To prevent further disruption and maintain the integrity of the article, I kindly request temporary semi-protection.

Thank you. Sahil99906 (talk) 08:11, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason: There are constant reversions to the page that are ignoring legitimate and official press releases/online posts. Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

I think the section should be restored, which would fix the problem of the broken anchor. The section was deleted by a sock, then never restored before the article was protected. ~Anachronist (talk) 04:06, 9 April 2025 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Dracophyllum is a user that has been creating lists and articles largely related to the flora of New Zealand and the surrounding landmasses. Several of these have been brought to GA level and at least one to FA (Dracophyllum fiordense) from scratch. They have been around for a little while; their works are well-developed in sandboxes prior to publishing in mainspace, and need little attention once published. Reason for requesting goes here

I am an experienced theater director creating a Wikipedia article about my work that has been reviewed multiple times by AfC reviewers. I need to upload several low-resolution scans of historical press articles under fair use to support the notability of the subject. My account is more than 4 days old and has over 10 edits. Event coordinator

[edit]
Reason for requesting event coordinator rights - I'm running an editathon for Trans + history week on the 9th May as part of my new role in Wikimedia UK as Wales (and languages) programme coordinator. It's in person and I'm hoping to attract new users who will need an account. I've set up a dashboard and am asking people to create an account beforehand so I might not need this, but it would be handy to have, at least for the duration of Trans + history week (5th May to 11th May 2025). Requests for new page reviewer

New page reviewer

[edit]

I am reapplying for the new page reviewer role after my initial request was declined because now I realize I had applied prematurely. Since then, I have gained some experience, refined my understanding of Wikipedia’s policies, and have been actively contributing to the Articles for Creation (AfC) review process. This has not only strengthened my ability to assess new articles but has also given me useful experience in engaging constructively with editors.

I am well-versed with Wikipedia’s guidelines, particularly regarding notability, verifiability, and neutrality. My strength is my ability to remain unbiased while reviewing, and I always strive to improve by learning from my mistakes. Though my registered account is only a few months old, I have been editing Wikipedia for a long time, which has given me substantial familiarity with its norms and regulations.

I have been enjoying reviewing AfC drafts, and this experience has encouraged me to take on a more active role in maintaining Wikipedia’s quality. I now feel myself confident that I can handle this responsibility and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to contribute as a new page reviewer.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Best regards, Rahmatula786 (talk) 17:12, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

No Sir, Before creating this account, I used to edit Wikipedia anonymously and made various contributions. However, after realizing the benefits of having a registered account, I created this one and have since been actively editing and contributing regularly. I would like to request NPR rights to contribute more effectively to this area and help reduce the backlog at NPP. I have created 18 articles and have been actively involved in patrolling new pages, tagging non-notable and promotional content for CSD and AfD. Many of the articles I have nominated for CSD or AfD have been deleted, which I believe reflects my understanding of Wikipedia's notability and content policies. With NPR rights, I will be able to continue this work more efficiently. I am familiar with relevant guidelines and policies and would appreciate the opportunity to help out in this area. Thanks for your time and consideration! Junbeesh (talk) 07:43, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

I've been an editor for a while and have experience in article creation (mainly on the shorter side for more niche areas with fewer sources) and have a few DYKs under my belt. Think my knowledge of policy demonstrated through this makes me a good fit for these permissions. Upjav (talk) 20:33, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

As a further note, I'd like to review new pages. Upjav (talk) 02:17, 18 March 2025 (UTC)

I wish to apply for New Page Reviewer permissions to deal with the large backlog of unreviewed pages. I have participated in many AfD discussions, which proves my understanding of Wikipedia's content policies and notability guidelines. JustARandomEditor123 (talk) 10:48, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

I am requesting this permission because I want to volunteer in reducing the NPP backlog and ensuring that new pages are encyclopedic and properly cited. I believe that I am qualified to be a new page reviewer because I have created many new articles that are encyclopedic and adequately sourced, nominated new pages for speedy deletion when appropriate and have participated in the AfD process. Hi, I’d like to request NPR right for a 45 day trial. I’m familiar with key policy WP:N, WP:V, WP:NPOV, and deletion criteria, CSD, PROD, & AfD. I want to test myself with this role and help reduce the backlog by reviewing new pages carefully and in line with Wiki guidelines. Oxiyam.Primal (talk) 10:28, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

I think there's a technical issue with the AfD Statistics tool, its only showing the list of articles I nominated, while the rest seem to be hidden. Btw, I'm open to feedback and fully committed to learning and improving during the trial. Oxiyam.Primal (talk) 11:00, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
That's because of your username change—the full list is here. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 23:02, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello, I have 1 denied applied about a month ago because I didn't have 500 undeleted Main space edits at the time. I now have 501 so I am reapplying for temporary permissions. I have a decent amount of experience going through AfDs and source searching to check if they are notability. Moritoriko (talk) 06:40, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Automated comment This user has had 1 request for new page reviewer declined in the past 90 days ([13]). MusikBot talk 06:40, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Reason for requesting new page reviewer rights I am applying for the new page reviewer role because I have gained some experience, refined my understanding of Wikipedia’s policies, and have been actively contributing to the Articles for Creation (AfC) review process.

I now feel myself confident that I can handle this responsibility and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to contribute as a new page reviewer.Jeremiah Msaziri (talk) 02:32, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Requests for page mover

Page mover

[edit]

I'm an experienced editor with years of history on Wikipedia and I've recently been getting more into page moving (mostly to fix disambiguation-related issues). The issue is that increasingly I see that a redirect already exists at the intended destination, so it would be very helpful for me to have the page mover permission so I can resolve these issues efficiently. I have moved over 500 pages so far and have initiated several requested moves as well. I don't intend to engage in any controversial moves and if any of mine are contested I'll immediately revert and go to RM.

Thanks, Habst (talk) 18:11, 1 April 2025 (UTC)

Done. JensonSL (SilverLocust) 17:49, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

I wish to assist at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. I also close WP:RM discussions from time to time and this tool will save me from having to do a technical request every time. I meet the WP:PMCRITERIA. GMH Melbourne (talk) 04:03, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Occasionally move pages and sometimess if a title is not needed I don't need to mark it with db-g7. Would be much easier to move pages without leaving a redirect behind if needed. RanDom 404 (talk) 14:50, 8 April 2025 (UTC)

Not done per lack of demonstrated need and moving experience. You have done 20 moves, 2 of which are from redlinks. (WP:G7 only applies to move redirects when there were no other substantive contributors to either page, so please just continue to use {{db-g7}} if you need to delete a redirect left over from a page that you placed at a bad title.)
(As an aside, there is no need to delete a move redirect from draftspace to mainspace, nor to tag it as {{R from draft}}. The default {{R from move}} will suffice, and editing a redirect makes it harder to move the target to the redirect (if needed).) JensonSL (SilverLocust) 06:15, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

[edit]

I've been editing for a long time and understand Wikipedia's policies and goals. I especially like to help out at pages which have a lot of enthusiastic edits by knowledgeable people who might not understand Wikipedia's format and goals, making them perfect candidates for pending changes protection.

I think pending changes reviewer rights would be the perfect way to help separate the wheat from the chaff and help our newest editors participate and make a difference while maintaining our high standards. Bruhpedia (talk) 20:52, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

I have encountered instances where the ability to review pending changes to articles would prove useful in the prevention of vandalism and would help changes in good faith be accepted more quickly. Having the pending changes reviewer right would allow me to assist new editors with learning the formatting and customs of Wikipedia, and allow me to more effectively prevent vandalism and disruption to articles. I have read all policy regarding the pending changes reviewer right. Thank you for your consideration. wafflerrs talk! 02:49, 5 April 2025 (UTC)

Hello @Wafflerrs. How would PCR help editors learn formatting? That is out of scope of the perm. Otherwise, leaning towards granting. —Femke 🐦 (talk) 08:11, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Good afternoon @Femke. Thanks for the speedy reply. If I had to deny a pending change due to formatting/MoS issues, I would leave a message on their talk page detailling how to make their edit MoS compliant, and once done approve the edit. wafflerrs talk! 13:44, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Done. wafflerrs: Just to make sure that we're on the same page. If somebody introduces a MoS issue and a more substantial improvement at the same time, the expectation is that the change is accepted (and then improved in a next edit). —Femke 🐦 (talk) 13:55, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
@Femke - Yes, certainly, I would probably end up fixing the MoS issue myself and notify the editor about it. wafflerrs talk! 15:17, 6 April 2025 (UTC)

I have been active on Wikipedia, I'd like to request PCR to monitor recent changes. I'm aware of WP:NOTVANDAL & WP:AGF, so there won't be any "biting newcomers" reverts. Srimant ROSHAN (talk) 14:40, 5 April 2025 (UTC)

I'm requesting PCR to help out with reviewing pending changes I notice when patrolling recent changes. I have read and am familiar with the policies. I'd like to think I would make a good reviewer. LightlySeared (talk) 08:08, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Requests for rollback

Rollback

[edit]

I have taken up patrolling recent changes and clear vandalism prevension / sourceless BLP-edits in en-wiki too. I have enough experience of the tool through fi-wiki, where I am a rollbacker, pending changes reviewer and ”page stabilzer” (I think the group closest to it here was called editor?). I know I have under 200 edits too now, but my interest at the time here is vandalism prevention which is hard and takes multiple edits (causes spam in recent changes) without rollback-tool. I would ask for sysops to look at my well trusted global status and experience. Thank you! Osmo Lundell (talk) 20:33, 21 March 2025 (UTC)

@Osmo Lundell: Twinkle's red "vandalism" button should revert consecutive edits by the same user in the same way that rollback does. It appears when you view the diff (noting that you have Twinkle enabled). Have you tried doing that? – JensonSL (SilverLocust) 04:56, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Hey! Thanks for metting me know, I thought that using that button would need the rollback user group. Good to know if it works just like that for everyone! I would still leave my request pending, because rollback is still useful from the recent changes view etc. --Osmo Lundell hey 07:34, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Not done for the bot. With some more experience, please come back and request again as I have no doubt that it will be approved. Malinaccier (talk) 14:33, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll return after 200+ edits in mainspace! --Osmo Lundell hey 15:10, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I am requesting rollback rights to help combat vandalism and disruptive edits more effectively. I have been patrolling recent changes for the past 30 days, focusing on identifying and reverting vandalism, test edits, and other unconstructive changes. I am familiar with Wikipedia’s policies, including WP:VANDALISM, WP:BLP, and WP:NPOV.

I really wanted to improve Wikipedia by my small contribution. I understand the importance of using rollback responsibly. This permission would allow me to respond more efficiently to inappropriate edits.

I want to also say that I made some silly mistakes in the starting of my patrolling. However, I learnt from them and make sure that they won't happen again. Such as reverting edits that are already reverted, that mistakes you can see on my past contributions.

Thank you for considering my request. Please let me know if any additional information is needed. VortexPhantom Talk 07:35, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi,

I'd like to try some other counter-vandalism tools, such as AntiVandal, Huggle, and SWViewer, which require the rollback right to use. I've actively been patrolling recent changes for roughly 3-4 months and have consistently warned editors when reverting them. Tenshi! (Talk page) 17:18, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

Greetings, I’m an extended confirmed user, I am requesting for the rollback rights to help fight against vandalism and disruptive edits. I’m more active on recent changes feed and also new page feeds, I am familiar with WP:VANDALISM and I will love to help here. Best Regards (CP) 22:07, 7 April 2025 (UTC)

I have been editing constructively on the project for a few years now and would like to more effectively revert disruptive edits when I encounter them. I am familiar with Wikipedia's policies and understand the distinction between purely disruptive edits and edits that may be unhelpful but are made in good-faith. When reverting a new user's edits, I make sure to properly explain myself in an edit summary and leave a message on the relevant article's or user's talk page as appropriate, unless the user is obviously acting in bad faith and WP:DENY applies, in which case I report them to a relevant noticeboard. I have thoroughly read the WP:ROLLBACK instructions and will make sure to familiarize myself with the tools before using them, and avoid using the rollback tools when they are not appropriate and another reversion tool would be more suitable. silviaASH (inquire within) 06:57, 9 April 2025 (UTC)
